Hey Sugar!
My salutation above may be a cordial greeting to some, but I’m actually bidding farewell to the granulated substance that seems to make most give into many food temptations. Adieu to you I say!
I basically live a low-carb lifestyle. I’ve found that eating low-carb works for me. Living a low carb lifestyle also means learning to live without sugar and other refined substances that the body will eventually process into sugar.
I’ll be scouring (okay that sounds so hard core, occasionally looking is more like it) the web for recipes that embrace a low-carb/sugar-free lifestyle. I’ll post it here to let you know how it came out. I’m not a chef by any means so we’ll see how it goes.
I thought I would introduce you some sugar alternatives if you’re interested in embracing a sugar free lifestyle.
Xylitol a sugar alcohol that is as sweet as sucrose but only two-thirds of the caloric value according to wikipedia.
Brands:
Emerald Forest; extracted from Birch Trees *Most preferred
XyloSweet; extracted from Corn (probably genetically modified)
According to some websites most people preferred the Xylitol made from Birch trees over corn since corn may be genetically modified and also because of the flavor.
What is your sugar alternative? Post below!
